I was running late this morning.
I washed my pump.
I threw some berries and crackers into my bag for lunch.
I ran out the door.
I got too busy at work to pump until a few minutes before lunch.
I pulled my pump out.
All there, except the reservoir bottle.
I have no way to pump.
I called the PF. He brought beanie in at 3 PM.
I just spent 40 minutes trying to get my very distractable 8.5 months old baby to nurse at my office.
Fat chance that.
The kid is raring to go. She actually strained to push me away so she could climb around in the office. I got on the floor with her and crawled after her thinking that might tire her out.
Then we moved out to the car to try. No way, jose.
SO, I will probably end up with mastitis after today as I'm as swollen as a milk cow who's had no relief. I can't bellow frantically, though. People already think I'm too loud and vulgar as it is.
I'm dying here. Owie.

Oh, crappy day!
I hope PF brought a receptacle with him when he came to the office? Also, some people have been known to use a rubber band to attach a ziplock baggie (hey, it's designed to be used with food) to the pump and pump into that. (I really liked the Lansinoh bags anyway because they freeze flat and defrost quick.) And it's depressingly wasteful, but you could hand express milk into the sink.
And can we point out that this whole experience is due to the fact that you're such a dedicated loving mama who's continued to lactate despite roadblocks? And should you end up with mastitis, imagine that ever ache is reminding you to be proud of yourself, lol. (Yeah, you can shoot me!)

No, he didn't think to bring it yesterday either as we were both counting on the beanie for nursing action. Little did I know she'd be totally distractable away from her nus. Yes, it was the longest I've gone without pumping or nursing, and it was rough. I had no idea. I guess that's what it feels like to be normal.
No mastitis, but I'm going to pump right NOW!!!
I thought about attaching something like the lansinoh baggies I have in my desk somehow, but I figured the pressure/pump action would be diminished?
PF had forgotten the white valve part once when he sweetly packed my lunch for me, but he brought that crucial piece and the beanie to work and she nursed that day, oh sweet relief.

You'd probably have to rubber band it pretty tightly to ensure proper suction, but I know lots of women pump directly into bags. I think the medela bags might even come with twist ties to help connect them tightly to the pump (although I hate those bags, they have no ziplock & leaked for me).
