Lilypie 3rd Birthday Ticker
THEY FOUND KATI KIM AND HER GIRLS! She flagged down a helicopter that her husband's family had rented for the search.

Mein Gott.

I cannot explain how much this whole story affected me. She's just a yelp pal, but I have read her blog. I like how she thinks. I'm so sad for her harrowing week, but so glad they survived! She survived being stranded in the snow in the middle of nowhere, with a 7 month old nursing baby and a 4 year old! Fucking amazing. I am BURSTING with happiness tempered with trepidation as they haven't found her husband yet. I am going to listen to the live broadcast of the 5 PM PST news conference.

Kati Kim may very well be my new personal hero.

It's wrenching to think that her husband is still out there. He left them 2 days ago to seek help. Terrifying and brutal.

Please please please let them find James alive.

Nevermind -- I googled it and read all about it.

She nursed both the 7 mo old and the 4 year old to keep them fed. That makes me cry. (And makes me all the more determined to lactate forever!)

    Very worried about James . . .

sorry...I'm horrible about linking things. jamesandkati.com is the best one for news updates.

I know! I was thinking "I hope they have enough food so she can keep up her supply and feed the girls" the entire time!!! But mostly I just thought they wouldn't make it, too many people, too many small ones, and too stranded for help. I was so upset. PF said "You don't even know them" but it doesn't matter!! YOU KNOW how scary that would be! And to survive it??? Amazing. Heroic. Miraculous. Beautiful. I am very worried about James as well.
I'll totally go to DOE and pick up something smallish Mel so you can celebrate her nursing/survival/momhood and help support Kati and her little girls as well. Just in case.

Yeah, I watched the news conference live and broke down when the sheriff did. I then read he had his little girl's skirt with him and lost it. I donated 20 bucks to the fund for their family since his dad covered the cost of the rescue copters. Those found the girls at least. Poor sweet James...he seemed like a really decent dad and such a cool person, really fully of life. Their bio is really neat. I hope he is well celebrated for such a heroic life. I can't stand thinking of him dying so scared and cold and alone while out trying to save his family.
